JERRY BROWN MISLEADS CA VOTERS ON PROP 23!!!!

The BALLOT LABEL for Proposition 23 has been MISPRINTED in some counties. The Ballot Label was the subject of court-ordered changes to the materials originally prepared by the Attorney General Jerry Brown (now running for Govenor).  Check your ballot language below -- mine was fine but yours might be incorrect.

INCORRECT BALLOT LABEL:

23. SUSPENDS AIR POLLUTION CONTROL LAWS REQUIRING MAJOR POLLUTERS TO REPORT AND REDUCE GREEHOUSE (sic) GAS EMISSIONS THAT CAUSE GLOBAL WARMING UNTIL UNEMPLOYMENT DROPS TO 5.5 PERCENT OR LESS FOR FULL YEAR. INITIATIVE STATUTE.

CORRECT BALLOT LABEL (Red text shows what was omitted and SHOULD appear):

23. SUSPENDS IMPLEMENTATION OF AIR POLLUTION CONTROL LAW (AB 32) REQUIRING MAJOR SOURCES OF EMISSIONS TO REPORT AND REDUCE GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS THAT CAUSE GLOBAL WARMING, UNTIL UNEMPLOYMENT DROPS TO 5.5 PERCENT OR LESS FOR FULL YEAR. INITIATIVE STATUTE.

WHAT TO DO:
■When you report to a polling place or a Registrar of Voters, inspect the voting materials (sample ballot, actual polling place ballot, vote by mail ballot, provisional ballot) for the proper ballot label.


■If you observe that the voting materials have the incorrect Ballot Label, check to see if the Registrar of Voters or Poll Worker has taken any corrective action, such as posting the correct Ballot Label in each voting booth? If you observe that there is an incorrect ballot label please immediately notify the "Yes on 23" campaign by calling 866-247-0911. Also, let Yes on 23 campaign know if the registrar or poll workers have taken any corrective action or not.
And, oh yeah, don't forget to VOTE YES on Prop 23 and tell all your friends.

Barack In Glendale

Yesterday, President Barack Hussein Obama arrived in Glendale for an interview with a local Spanish language station just a few blocks from my home.  Carumba!  What traffic!  But what I did not expect was his stopping by afterward to say hello to his favorite blogger mom Susan-in-Glendale before jetting off from Burbank airport. 

A partial transcript has been kept...

Susan: "Mr. President, may I say I greatly respect your Office.  But I must tell you, I am quite frustrated..."

Barack:  "Susan, let me be clear, no one knows better than me about frustration, my youth spent in foreign and exotic lands, forced to attend private, elite schools in Hawaii and Cambridge.  But let me say, I am concerned that your frustrations have colored your judgment, it is my understanding you may vote for some Republican candidates this election."

Susan:  "You can count on that, sir."

Barack:  "Then make no mistake, I'm certain this is merely your temporal and irrational emotional reaction to perceived negative economic conditions by which you've naively forgotten the many accomplishments of my Administration, most recently my Summer of Recovery."

Susan:  "Yes, our family is still recovering.  You won't have much luck putting lipstick on THAT pig..."

Barack: "Change isn't easy, and I'm certain you'd agree with me if you can only just take the time to analyze the totality of the national debt vis a vis my many accomplishments in a coherent and educated manner, which I imagine you can do as a once-fellow Occidental College student like myself. "

Susan:  "I'm not so sure, Mr. P, and um, I left Oxy after a year to go to state school, so I'm not sure we really relate at that level."

Barack:  "Perhaps, but let me be clear, in my travels throughout our country and our 57 states..."

Susan:  "Um.  50.  That's 50 states, sir."

Barack:  "Hey, look, it says 57 right there on the teleprompter and besides, who's the President here?  You've been watching too much Fox News, wanting to exclude 7 entire states from our country, while I say, let's embrace all the states, not just the ones we like.  It's just like when I look at a U.S. coin and I read the inscription 'One Nation Under' -- I think to myself, 'we can do better, we shouldn't be going under, we can be "One Nation Above!" ' "

Susan:  "Excuse me sir. Aren't you misstating what the coin says, it says "One Nation Under GOD"."  You're omitting God, the Creator.  And it's not the first time...

Barack:  "See, I hate to say it, but again you're illustrating the dangers of listening to Rush Limbaugh and watching Fox News and becoming so misinformed.  Make no mistake!  We can be One Nation Above it all, rather than One Nation Going Under as Fox and the Republicans want with their politics of exclusion and confusion."

Susan: "Yes sir, I am getting confused."

Barack:  "My point exactly."

Susan:  "Yes, sir.  I realize that."

Absentees:  Use your gray ballot sleeve to write in a candidate.  The instructions on on the front of the gray sleeve.  Use the lines on the insde flap of the sleeve to write in the Office, in this case "Superintendent Public Instruction" and then on the ine below write the candidate's name, DIANE LENNING. 
Walk- in voters:  Ask the polling worker how to write in the candidate.  I do not have clear information on the process.

How I'm Voting Nov. 2nd -- CALIF Judges for Supreme Court & L.A. Superior

Wondering why you should bother voting on the judges?  Here's why:

In California, we have the unique ability to remove Supreme Court Justices during the Gubernatorial Election years. By voting no, the Justice is removed and a new one is nominated by the Governor. The Nominee is then confirmed by The Commission on Judicial Appointments. The commission has three members: the Chief Justice, the Attorney General, and the state's senior presiding justice of the Courts of Appeal.

While we may not get any better replacement in the short run, it is an opportunity to show our disapproval of nominee and the way that the Judiciary is being used to either make up law from the bench or kill laws that were voted on by the people. Source: Government For the People

Of course, it's a gamble who will be the next govenor and what sorts of judges he/she might appoint, but in some cases it's better to take the chance by ousting the current judicial occupant.  We can "send a message" by voting NO to certain very liberal judges.


So, in the order that these judges appear on my "Official Sample Voter Guide," here's how I'm voting:

            Mallano is a Gov. Davis appointee, UC Berkeley grad.  Career judge.  Probably liberal leaning.

She's a Davis Appointee; Here's her notable ruling; and Info about the write-in candidate opposing Hogue  I'll probably vote YES.

**  Why we should vote NO to Justice Moreno.  This is from Government for the People's website:
Justice Carlos Moreno is a classic “liberal activist” appointed by Bill Clinton to the Federal Court in 1998 and to the California Supreme Court by Gray Davis.  

"The most recent battle over Proposition 8 and Marriage shows that [Moreno] will be as radical in his activism....Moreno and crew determined that the law was not retroactive even though it was law of the land at the time and the constitutional amendment was clear that no other marriage other than between a man and a woman was valid or recognized in California. The lawsuit to overturn the will of the voters only had one activist ready to oppose the new constitutional amendment, Moreno. The law, the people, and the constitution are just barriers to Moreno’s judicial activism. Moreno is a barrier to a Constitutional Republic and must be removed."

Moreno was also considered for appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court.  If voters oust Moreno from the California Supreme Court, we will seriously cripple his chances of any future Supreme Court consideration.  

N.O.W. Declares the "W" Word Hate Speech... except for Jerry Brown

So I guess now it is official. You cannot use the “W” word.

The National Organization of W**** continues to evade the media radar in its recent proclamations that

1. Brown’s use of the “W” word is in fact Hate Speech, but,
2. It is hate speech only from now on, effectively giving Jerry Brown’s campaign a pass for calling Meg Whitman a w****, and
3. N.O.W**** will continue to endorse Brown notwithstanding the “W" comment.

The media further has not pressured the two U.S. Senators from California, both of whom are w****, to announce whether they condemn Brown’s hate speech (a staffer, possibly Brown's own w*****, said the “W" word, which Brown said he liked and planned to use).

Brown, who is a w**** man running against a w**** w****, is still hoping to successfully play the race card.  He enjoys continued if incompetent help from w**** w**** attorney Gloria Allred and Hispanic w**** Nicky Diaz who has filed suit against Whitman.

No word yet either from Nancy Pelosi and her Congressional W****s’ Caucus whether Brown’s invective harms the cause of w**** in politics and our popular culture or just political w**** in general.
