Susan's 2016 Glendale June Primary Voters' Guide

My voting guide is dedicated to my friend, Kirsten, who relies on my voting guide every election and passes it on to her family and friends.

The list of offices track the order of their appearance on the Glendale ballot.

President:                      Ted Cruz 

NOTE:  Although Senator Cruz has suspended his campaign at this time, he retains his delegates and the ability to become the nominee at an open GOP convention (however unlikely).  As of this writing, Donald Trump does not have the 1237 delegates required to lock up the nomination; therefore, a vote for Ted Cruz in the primary is NOT a "wasted vote" or a vote for Hillary.  I think Cruz is a more conservative, more reliable choice than Trump.

State Measure 50:           NO.  

Although it sounds good, and makes you think it will punish bad politicians, it is actually a way for the majority Democrats in the legislature to intimidate those few Republicans fighting the good fight in Sacramento.   Senator Joel Anderson explains here:  

"The truth is that Prop 50 is a scam. Rather than accepting what legislative leaders want you to believe, I encourage you to look closer at the history of Prop 50 to understand how it will perpetuate the culture of corruption in the State Capitol, deny millions of Californians their voice in Sacramento, and allow capitol insiders to stifle political opposition."

Glendale City Measure N:  YES!!!!  

YES on Measure N will eliminate the extra 7% tax that the city tacked on to the ever-rising utilities rates.  Every time residents' utility rates rise, this extra UUT "delivery fee" rises right along with it.  A YES vote on Measure N will stop that sneaky extra tax.  This small cut will require the city council to look at its budget and make adjustments to control the growth of government. 

The UUT tax revenue pours right into the city's general fund.  The City Council controls how that money is spent, not the city manager or the unions.   The city unions have spent over $65K to scare residents, threatening them with decreases in services for fire and police and loss of libraries.  They ignore the bloated salaries and swelling ranks of full-time government employees.  Upper management just received a 5% pay raise, so there's plenty of money to go around.

If you don't vote, you don't get to complain later.  No excuses.

Twisted Truth-o-Meter: PolitiFact gives bumbling defense of Liz Warren Puff Piece

Recently, PolitiFact targeted me when it publicly labeled “Mostly False” a social media Meme I created that mocked Senator Elizabeth Warren.  My PolitiChicks article exposed PolitiFact’s dishonest smear against the Meme and me.  I then sent a detailed letter to PolitiFact’s editors explaining why I was right and PolitiFact was wrong.  That letter (reproduced below) provoked a condescending and huffy response from PolitiFact (read it for yourself below) doubling down on its misrepresentations and sloppy journalism, using small words in hopes little women like me might understand true journalists’ factual finesse.

What was especially dumbfounding was PolitiFact’s response that “we would have been happy to respond to your concerns” but for the fact that “11 days” had passed since publishing the article.  Spoken in Elizabeth Warren parlance, PolitiFact won’t smoke-em peace pipe with Paleface PolitiChick.

In Bizzaro-PolitiFact-world, fact checking my six month-old Meme is timely, but fact-checking its own 11 day-old article is not timely.  Odd too is that PolitiFact emailed me about its article just five hours before publishing it, as if that were sufficient notice to respond (sorry, PolitiFact, but Wednesday afternoons I have three separate school pick-ups followed by kids’ karate lessons).

PolitiFact Circles Wagons Around Elizabeth Warren with a Pants-On-Fire Smear

In my latest article published at PolitiChicks, I reveal how and why PolitiFact targets me - instead of major leftwing media sites - for repeating an embarrassing fact about the Cherokee Princess, Elizabeth "Paleface" Warren:

"Days before the Democrat Party’s anticipated electoral scalping, PolitiFact has published a shameless rehab article on Senator Elizabeth Warren. That article attacks a FaceBook meme I published over six months ago that mocks the DNC’s chief Cherokee who “lives in a $5.4M mansion, claimed ‘Native American’ status to score a Harvard gig paying $350,000 to teach one class, and now lectures us that ‘the system is rigged to benefit the rich.’ “ Of those 5 or so facts, PolitiFact cherry picks the first one and, violating its own written policy, proclaims the entire Meme “mostly false” based solely on a flawed analysis of that one cherry picked fact.

Yes, Politifact is helping Senator Elizabeth Warren reapply her war paint in time for a 2016 challenge against presumptive Democrat nominee Grandma Hil-Billy...."
